The Basic Neutral Chao is light blue with yellow markings on its hands, feet, and head, and has a round ball floating above its head.

Neutral Chao are the hardest type of Chao to get. The main way to make Neutral Chao is to treat your Chao very nicely equally with both hero characters (Sonic, Knuckles and Tails) and dark characters (Shadow, Rouge and Dr. Eggman)

The Basic Dark Chao is black with red markings on its hands, feet, head, and body, and has a spiked ball floating above its head instead of a regular Chao ball.

To obtain a Dark Chao (They are also commonly called, Evil Chao, Devil Chao, or Demon Chao) You can put a Chao in the Dark Garden and visit it with dark characters (Shadow, Rouge and Dr. Eggman), or give the Chao lots of Dark Fruit.

The Basic Hero Chao is white with blue markings on its hands, feet, head, and body, and has a halo floating above its head as its Chao ball.

To get a Hero Chao you can either, put it in the Hero Garden and Visit the Chao with only hero characters (Sonic, Knuckles and Tails), or you can give the Chao lots of Hero Fruit.
